The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society: The title is weird. The island is pretty. The war is cruel. The people are lovely. Books are powerful. Love is never wrong. A cute poem in the movie: “when I was three I was hardly me/ when I was four I was not much more/ when I was five I was just alive/ but now I’m six, I’m as clever as clever/ so I think I’ll be six now for, ever and ever” Inspired by this I wrote a lame poem: When I was fifteen snow danced in an impossible place/ When I was sixteen cherry blossoms were very impatient/ When I was seventeen I ate my breakfast at night/ But now I’m eighteen I still cry over the same thing/ When I’m nineteen/ I hope the winter won’t be colder because I’m older. P.S. I enjoyed Shakespeare when I was a kid thanks to Mary and Charles Lamb. I love how they use the book throughout the movie.
